Industrial Group (AIG) drums are manufactured in accordance
with the basic international standards that comply with
- DOT 17E/H Department of Transportation
- ANSI American International Standard
- DIN EN 10131 European Standard
- DIN 1541 Deutsche Institute for Normalization
The drums are tested by TNO (Institute of Industrial Technology)
in Netherlands where they are granted a UN number for tracking.
Drum Types
1. Tight Head Drum or Ordinary Drum
This type of drum has two small re-sealable openings, which
are used to fill and empty the drum. The dimensions of the filling
opening are 50mm (2.0 inch), and 20mm (0.75 inch). The drum
is mainly used to transport non-corrosive liquids.
2. Open Head Drum or Full Removable Head Drum
This type of drum has a detachable lid. The drum is mainly used
to transport viscous material such as grease or granular materials.
3. Closed Head Drum With 8 Inch Opening
This type of Drum has the same specifications as a tight head
and an open head drum. The additional feature is an 8-inch opening
on the top cover. The drum is mainly used to transport Caustic
Soda and Bitumen
4. Internally Coated Drum
This type of Drum has the same specifications as a tight head
and an open head drum. The additional feature is an internal
coating, which makes it suitable for storing volatile materials
and food products. The internal coating can be either a Questron
Lining or a Epoxy/Phenolic Hibake concentrate lining.
Coating Types
1. Epoxy/Phenolic Hibake concentrate lining
This is a pigmented, heat reactive epoxy/phenolic container
lining and is recommended for water and alkali resistant materials.
2. Questron Lining
This is a specially developed polypropylene based material which
is highly resistant to volatile and corrosive chemicals. Questron
coated drums are composite drums that have the mechanical strength
of steel and the high flexibility of plastic.
Questron drums have also been approved for the transportation
and storage of food products. AIG has approval for its Questron
drums to be used with liquid and solid food products by all
major North American and European health and safety legislation
authorities. |
